Shady Oaks Motel

I'm writing this review because I promised the proprietor I would, and because him and his charming hotel deserve it. We were in the process of moving from Spokane to Hawaii and in the past weeks have stayed in some rough hotels trying to keep costs down. I assumed Shady Oaks was going to be another one of these hovels based on the low price, however we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are quite large and the beds are clean and comfortable.

The room was reasonably priced and clean. The bed was comfortable. The owners were friendly. The heater in the room did t work properly so the owners warned us and set up a suitably sized portable heater in our room to make sure we would be comfortable. The freezer in the mini-fridge even froze my ice pack like it was supposed to. I’d stay here again.

The rooms are clean and well stocked with towels and toilet paper. The owners are really nice people. And it's affordable!!!!

A couple of things could definitely benefit from some more maintenance and such as with any older buildings there's always some things that might need a little work but honestly overall this place is truly a hidden gem plus the rooms are larger than they might appear or feel but I've seen whole studio apartments that are actually small enough it would fit inside of one of these rooms might even have a little room to spare. This place even has smart televisions and a strong wifi connection . The manager there even gave me break after break on the rental and I believe he was quite fair on his repriceing on my room as I was renting here for a couple of months now. Right off of I-5 freeway north bound exit 120 same if you're going south bound but that offramp gets t-sectioed with the road it's located on and so that would be a Right turn from that intersection and then it's probably less than half a mile from the intersection on the right

So, if you're spoiled by high-end hotels, you might need some time to adjust. This is a small, locally owned hotel first and foremost. Easy check-in, easier checkout, and super wonderful people...They had just put in new carpet and were in the middle of repairing damage some dude had caused to a door to a room and a dresser that was now missing drawer. But the beds are thick and firm and sheets are soft and warm, the heating works like a charm, they have a fridge, microwave and water kettle, and the staff were very good about replacing the batteries in the remote when it was dead. It could use some modern updates when they get the funds, but was cozy, cheap and better than the Days Inn which had several months of bedbug reviews. No bugs in these beds.

This is a budget motel, but our room was clean and didn't smell. Also, we didn't see any bugs. It was rated by AAA in 2016 as a 1-Star. The manager was very nice and even stayed up late so we could check in. It is a good place to stop and sleep.

Very nice! Management did so much to accommodate us after days on the road! Rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Cold AC, nice TV, mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker in room, and the bathroom has a very nice, large, tiled shower in a roomy bathroom. Out of town a little, so it's nice and quiet. Other guests are quiet and considerate too! What a gem for the price! Personally I rate it better and cleaner than any motel 6 I've ever seen!

Great price, nothing fancy but we slept like babies. Clean rooms and everything good. The only thing is that the wifi didn't reach out bedroom good enough, we were having problems with it but since we arrived at 11 pm all we wanted to do was shower and sleep. Nice little motel and 2 king beds in one bedroom!
